Everyday we have two groups that read the newspaper.
In one group the consumers read the newspaper and in the other the newspaper is
read to the consumers. Individuals are continually working to improve their
skills. Some, like Sean Hagan, have very specific goals like passing the GED.
Other individuals, like Todd Merlow, have ongoing goals like improving his math skills, or like Eric Masef his reading skills. Individuals usually work one
on one with staff members in these endeavors. Many skills are developed in
conjunction with other activities. Those working on the Newspaper or Web Site
improve their writing skills; those in cooking class or running the coffee
break store improve their math skills. Many consumers use computer programs to improve their
math, reading and spelling skills. |
